It is as much a misfortune as a fault, and is to be met by strengthening the moral character generally, and by seeking to bring out in the disposition all those habits of self-respect, which, under the Divine blessing, give dignity to man. Christians are formed into one body, having a common Head; from whom they all derive a common life, and in whom they all are one. We are called to love, we are called to draw close and we are called to act because God has made all of this possible in Christ Jesus. If unchecked, anger can lead to violence, retribution, revenge and even murder. As such, we are called to pursue righteousness. The gospel’s effects are as dramatic as the disjunction between death and life. Are we, in fact, still living lives characterise by deceit, lying and falsehood? This word denoted at first the quality of being unfolded, as contrasted with that which was folded together, and so simplicity in a moral sense and duplicity are moral opposites. In this sense, Psalm 4 is incredibly helpful. A Calvinist believes no such thing. Most of such insincere professions are the refuges of selfishness ashamed to come to the light and putting on the forms of goodwill. We are to move from apathy to action. It is in the context of the profound weight of all that God has done, that the Apostle Paul exhorts us to act in a very specific way. The morality here is perfect. 7.
